IDKEX – Showcase
The IDKEX Showcase was a drag show super-sized! The event was held at The Lifestyles Pavilion, which was fitting, because the performers – every one of them – were rock stars!

Awwwwwwwww suki sukiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Best stage lighting ever!
Awww suki suki deux! I can still feel the energy in the room when I look at this photo. This was such a coming together of the community!
The performer on the left sang It’s Oh So Quiet by Bjork better than Bjork. I didn’t have a view of the stage when it first started, and I thought they were lip syncing to a live recording of the song. When I saw that it was truly being sang I could not believe my eyes!
Lumberjacks burlesque?
In pasties? Yes please!
Hello!!!!!!!!!
This duo from Italy Kyrahm + Julias Kaiser did this number, about the transformation from feminine to masculine, in silence. The three standing in the background are supposed to be nude, but due to Ohio law had to censor their act for the first time ever.
IDKEX – Viva!’s Red Light Girlie Lounge
Viva!’s Red Light Girlie Lounge at former East Village gave IDKEX attendees a femme break with a breathtaking lineup of burlesque performers. The most packed I ever saw East Village, I literally could barely move my shutter finger!
The one on the right is one of my all time favorites. The image is not altered this is how it was shot.
Fabulous merch!
Oh I love this one! I know natural armpits are not everyone’s cup of tea, usually they aren’t mine either, but they make this photo. Without the hair, it would be ordinary.
IDKEX – Dragdom
IDKEX stands for International Drag KingCommunity Expo Ten. This week long event included so much more than just shows. There were seminars, round tables, vendor fairs, a film festival, the list goes on and on.
I met performers from all over the world during this event! I have never met a more diverse group of people from so many places in one room before!
Covering this event was my introduction to drag kings. I think everyone has heard of drag queens, especially with shows like Ru Paul’s Drag Race, but kings are kind of forgotten. It’s a shame more people do not know about drag kings, because they are definitely entertaining! I actually prefer watching kings to watching queens. Maybe because I know so many.
I was hired to do event photography for the entire event, this is the first of three large shows I covered for the event promoters. This show was at Wall Street Nightclub.
There are few instances where an American Sign Language interpreter is provided for performances, I thought this was really awesome.
A French performer. This number had impact. My favorite of the night.
Like a Prayer – LOVED IT!

G Rated
In the drag performance world, there aren’t many opportunities for the youth in the community to participate in or even watch shows. G Rated was put on as a show for all ages to solve that problem! It was nice to be able to take my kids to a show for once! Event organized by Dangerous Productions.
Alexis Stevens was a fantastic family friendly host with humor just off color enough be funny for the adults!
Obama came by for a visit
Nina West gave the most impressive drag yodeling performance I have ever seen!
