Last Art Suspension – Trail of Terror
Event photography of a suspension performed at Trail of Tears by Last Art Tattoo in Lancaster Ohio.
This was the first suspension I ever attended. I was really glad to have the opportunity to go “back stage” and photograph what goes on before such an event!
Suspensions are one of those activities that fascinate me, but I have zero interest in participating in personally. In all honesty, it gives me the heebie jeebies to puncture flesh in any way, I can’t stand getting shots or piercings! Tattoos don’t bother me so much, because they don’t go as deep. Anything else, just makes me woozy! Not to mention all that weight hanging there whoa… just not for me!
I have a great deal of respect for suspension artists though. Back when I took these photos in 2007, I had never seen this before. Now, I have a lot of friends who perform this way.
The actual piercing was done at the shop in a sanitary environment, the performers were then bandaged up for the trip to the venue.
Suspension is definitely not something to take lightly. The guys doing this show were so careful, and organized – they were prepared. But something still malfunctioned with their pulley system, so the performance was cut short after the first suspension. No one was injured, but I think once there was a mishap they felt it would be better not to attempt another suspension. That is why there are two people with hooks but only one actual suspension.
Trail of Tears – Scene Setters
The Trail of Tears is a pretty good haunt. It is out in the middle of nowhere in a rural area outside of Lancaster. I was not able to go see everything, but what I did get to check out was all great fun! I couldn’t find a website for it, so I have no idea if it is still open in season.
Preparations…
Anticipation
The corks are there so that the sharp edges of the hooks don’t poke where they shouldn’t!
Crowd reactions – the redhead on the far right makes me smile!
TRAUMA 2009
Event photography of TRAUMA 2009.
TRAUMA 2009 was so huge that it took up both the Sugar Bar and Park Street Patio! It was a fabulous time as always. If you’ve never heard of TRAUMA you should check it out. It is the hottest costume party in Columbus AND is also a charity event so you can do good while being naughty! Provocatique is and always will be proud sponsor of TRAUMA.
TRAUMA is an annual Halloween fetish party – for more info take a look at the TRAUMA website.
I decided to make all of my images black and white for this year just to shake things up a bit.
The violet wand booth. What is a violet wand? It’s an electric generating machine. It is called violet wand because unit has a globe on the top with an electrical storm in it just like the ones you touch and the electricity follows your fingers. They are WAY COOL! You can hook metal things up to it and they lightly zap the person you are playing with. In this photo the metal object is a set of chains, he is lightly whipping her skin with them as they shock her. When I say shock I mean like a carpet static shock. They carry them at The Chamber!
Someone has been a naughty girl!
I think that’s probably a genuine smile, since his arm is about to go in to a grope box
Ladies with Adventures in Sexuality in a rope bondage suspension scene
The headliner for 2009 was Madison Young. I actually got to spend some time talking to her in the green room, she’s a great lady. She creates porn like you have never seen before go take a look at Madison Bound her website! I really love that her films feature REAL lesbians! She did an abduction scene that was pretty controversial among attendees. Some loved it, some did not. Personally, I admire her for pushing the envelope!
She arrived to the stage over the shoulder of her captor in a trash bag!
And was promptly tied up
Somehow got the upper hand…
And called up a ride out of there!
Costume contest finalists. The beef girl won. I was personally rooting for Elmo warrior girl
Roevy! My favorite shot of the night.
Titonton played the Revenge Of The Nerds rap as their opener and I was a fan for life!
Yes, that is a large foot.
I complain to myself about not having a good seat for the Lindsay Hearts runway set… but I suppose the view wasn’t SO bad…
Anna and The Annadroids performed some great live music. The visuals weren’t too shabby either!
Rainer DJ set
The… end.

Erotic N Roll
Erotic N’ Roll at Skully’s. I wasn’t there professionally, just took my camera along for the show. I went to watch the Viva! and the Velvet Hearts performance, of course… but mostly to see Only Flesh because they put on a fantastic show! If you’d like to hear some heavy music and see a stage show like none other you should go and check them out!
For those interested in techie type stuff…
I shot all of these photos at ISO 2500 and I truly have no idea why. I threw them on my drive and didn’t edit them for over two years, I forgot they even existed! I had just gotten the camera, maybe I wanted to see how far I could push the ISO for events and get away with it. They were shot with a Canon 50D with available light only. There was way too much smoke in the place for even fill flash, and there was also a video crew I did not want to hinder.
I actually like the grain!
I adore this photograph. I think it captures an expression of freedom in her face as if she’s the happiest sexy girl in pasties on the planet!
I have to share this… because it makes me smile. That would be my tattoo. I’ve had it for 13 years now, and this is the first time a photo looked like it!
I call this shot 4 bars. Get it?
I really love the visuals from this performance. This shot in particular
Angel? Demon? You decide. I call her angelic. Oddly enough, I think he looks slightly angelic as well. You would see the irony if you could read his belly… I’ll let you imagine what it says. It’s one of my favorite tattoos on another person!
Speaking of the divine, this almost looks like church!
